"Drama in the Heart of Summer!"
by Karine Langlois

A terrifying malediction hits the tribe of Gérard Depardieu.  One week after his operation, nothing goes right!

In the past, destiny had already cruelly hit Gérard Depardieu and his family.  For some time, it appeared they had recovered peace and happiness.  Yet it would seem that the bad luck is back.  In the full heart of summer, a new thriller novel pot is sudden dumped on them.  Gérard must be operated on in haste.  Elisabeth and Guillaume have not been saved either…

Returning to France in emergency, he underwent a bypass heart surgery and should put a serious brake on his activities!

SEPARATIONS, scandals, condemnations... the life of the Depardieu clan had never been a calm stream. But finally, each had managed to give a new sense to his or her life. The balance and the harmony seemed to reign henceforth. Elisabeth had founded in Touraine Emergence, a shop destined to help young producers. Gérard accumulated the films while spinning notoriously the perfect love with his companion, Carole Bouquet. And his son, Guillaume, seemed to have hunted his old demons finally thanks to his young wife, Élise.

Just when everything seemed to be going the best, misfortune has just piled on them anew. To start with Gérard. Since about fifteen days ago, the number one actor of the French movies felt especially tired.  He often complained about a  quick pain in the chest.

Nothing would have stopped him however from flying off for a well-deserved vacation in company of the lovely Carole.  July 7, the couple disembarked on a small Island south of Sicily, where, since 1997, he has been in the habit to take his taste of summer. He had rented a pretty villa to savor three weeks of liberty in love.

The program of preceding day had taken place in a perfectly normal way: picnic on the boat, bathing, tanning... In short, one Saturday of dreaming under the sun. Only, in the evening, Gérard suddenly felt very badly. On Carole's initiative, he decided to charter a plane to go back to France and to admit himself into Hospital Foch in Suresnes near Paris. There, the physicians decided to operate as quickly as possible in order to avoid all risk of heart attack.

So the following Monday, the comedian underwent a bypass heart surgery. A very delicate operation, even though, in the role of his agent, Claude Davy wants to be rather reassuring: "Gérard is conscious. The operation went very well." Dr. Gilles Dreyfus, chief of the cardiovascular service of the hospital, specifies on his side that the operation to open his chest lasted "five or six hours", and added: "Gérard Depardieu has not been operated on in emergency following a heart attack."

Tired, he had chosen a small island close to Sicily for a vacation from worries.
